“AutoKrAZ” Completes Testing of the KrAZ-5401Н2 Medium-Duty Truck

01 February, 2017

The KrAZ-5401Н2 cab chassis truck with payload capacity of 6 tonnes used for conversion into special vehicles provided with industrial equipment has undergone comprehensive preliminary testing.  Systems and parameters tested were braking performance, fuel efficiency, weights and geometry, engine systems, noise level and other parameters in compliance with standard procedure.

Running tests have taken place on approved sections of Ukrainian roads and on the company’s proving ground. Laboratory testing has been carried out in accordance with testing program and procedure using high-precision test equipment.

Preliminary (manufacturer’s) tests proved vehicle compliance with requirements. Designers and test engineers were glad at high fuel efficiency: at a speed of 40 km/h fuel consumption is  16,5 l/100 km, 50 km/h – 18,2l/100 km,  60 km /h -  20 l /100 km, 80 km /h – 25 l/100 km.  With gross weight of 12540 kg and permissible load this baby delivers top speed of 92,1 km/h.

Turning radius is about 6,8 due to use of  bonnetless cab. This chassis cab truck is very maneuverable with small overall dimensions of 6195х2550х2800 as compared to those of traditional KrAZ trucks. Moreover, bonnetless cab is ergonomic and offers low interior noise. Actual noise level is 79 dB as compared to standard of 82 dB.

It should be recalled that the KrAZ-5401Н2 chassis cab truck was built at KrAZ in last December to gain share in the market of vehicles with reduced payload capacity and substitute foreign-made vehicles in the segment of light- and medium-duty vehicles. It has been added to lineup of light-duty vehicles available in axle configurations 4х2 and 4х4 and payload capacity of 12, 10 and 9 tonnes.

For the first time ever this chassis cab truck has been provided with 4 cylinders inline engine rated at 170hp meeting Euro-5 emission standard, the 6J70T 6-speed manual transmission and new model of steering gear with reduced standard size never mounted on the KrAZ trucks before.

Today finishing works are performed by the company’s engineering teams.
