KrAZ Appears on Poltava Region Commemorative Coin

Stylized KrAZ-Hurricane as symbol of today’s Poltava region appears on 5 UAH commemorative bi-metallic coin - 80th anniversary of Poltava Region. The coin was put in circulation by the national bank of Ukraine on 10th0f October. As stated at NBU site, another coin in the series Regions of Ukraine is dedicated to “... industrial and agricultural region in the mid-Dnieper region, historical territories where Ukrainian culture and written language arose. Poltava region is represented by a pleiad of its famous natives such as G.Skovoroda, I.Kotliarevsky, N.Gogol, N.Lycenko, О.Gonchar, O.Pchilka, P.Myrny, V.Symonenko; Reshetilovka carpet weavers and Oposhia potters. Poltava region holds the biggest share in fuel and energy complex, mining and machinery manufacturing industries. The region is known with its mineral waters in spa town of Mirgorod.“

Multirole armored vehicle KrAZ-Hurricane built by “AutoKrAZ” in 2015 is on the coin head side along with smaller coat of arms of Ukraine, legends around circle: at the top – National Bank of Ukraine, at the bottom – Five Hryvnias, at the right there is a logo of Banknote Printing and Minting Works of NBU; the year of coin minting 2017 is shown in the centre, with vertical ornament symbolizing the region at the right. Transfiguration Church (Velyki Sorochyntsy), hydropathic establishment (Mirgorod), lyre, ink-pot and pen, symbols of literary activity appear at the right in the ornament; at the bottom there are spikes, pumpkin, grapes, apple, kumanets (from pottery centre of Ukraine Oposhya).
