The bid for procurement of special vehicles (multipurpose road maintenance vehicle) has been announced by Housing and Utilities Department of Nikolayev City Council. Two vehicles came to Nikolayev in mid-April

Vehicles supplied to Nikolayev are designed for all year round maintenance of asphalt concrete, cement and other hard-surfaced roads, removal of snow, gravel and sand, spreading grit and deicing agents, washing roads. In winter period the vehicle is provided with sand spreader and snow plough for spreading grit on sidewalks and roads and snow clearing. In summer it is used for washing and watering road surface, cleaning gutters and watering green areas. Multipurpose road maintenance vehicle is based on the KrAZ-65053 6х4 chassis. This chassis model is among the most popular ones with machine building plants for installation of various superstructures due to reliability, capability to withstand overloads and excellent adaptation to different road and climate conditions.  The chassis is provided with engine rated at 330hp meeting Euro 5 coupled with 9-speed manual transmission. Brake system is provided with ABS.

Superstructure includes 10 tonnes sand spreading hopper, 12 cu.m. tank, 8 cu.m. body, snow plow and brush.

Work tools and systems of equipment and snow plow are controlled remotely from driver’s seat.

According to Housing and Utilities Department of Nikolayev City Council decision to purchase vehicles made by domestic manufacturer such as KrAZ vehicles has been taken for the first time. Their advantage is increased power, bigger tank and hopper capacity with the same fuel consumption. What is more, experience of other cities shows that cost of maintenance for domestic vehicles is lower than for Belarusian ones.

To conclude, Nikolayev is another Ukrainian city that KrAZ will help make cleaner.
