Special vehicles provided with state-of-the-art equipment were transferred in solemn ceremony to military medics in ATO zone on the eve of the Day of health care worker. President of Ukraine Piotr Poroshenko handed certificates to 20 new off road vehicles including KrAZ-based X-ray room and operating theatre.
“When it is impossible to dispose of casualties, surgeries will be done in mobile operating theatre in situ”, said Piotr Poroshenko. He emphasized that new mobile operating theatre will go Avdeyevka to provide medical assistance to Ukrainian warriors defending Ukraine and added that except military men medical attention will be provided to civilian population.
Mobile X-ray room is used for chest X-ray screening. Medical equipment includes X-ray unit, quartz lamp with air recirculation system, gurney table accommodating patient with weight up to 200 kg, computer with dry film printer to print X-ray images.
Mobile operating theater is used to make uncomplicated surgeries and first emergency medical out-of-hospital aid requiring special conditions in rural and hard-to-reach regions and in the field: bleeding control, infusion therapy and blood substitute infusion, to eliminate asphyxia, shock control, limb amputation, 2 level medical assistance, etc. Medical equipment includes operating and instrument tables, artificial lung that can recycle oxygen for 4 hours, electrocardiograph with monitor, monitor-defibrillator, portable ultrasound machine, etc.
Both ambulance vehicles are based on off road chassis KrAZ (6х6). Gross vehicle weight (weight of fully fuelled and laden vehicle with medical equipment, driver and two health care workers) is 26000 kg, maximum kW demand is 10, generator capacity is 5,5 and 17 kW respectively. Overall dimensions of vehicle patient compartment: 6500 mm х 2600 mm х 2200 mm.
The head of state also said that this year the government placed defence order for over 100 off road military ambulance vehicles. Domestic manufacturer “AutoKrAZ” hopes that KrAZ will get significant part of this order in compliance with domestic manufacturer support policy proclaimed by the government.
